How to sit elegantly

don’t slouch - sitting up straight makes you appear taller and slimmer.

Keep your knees together. This if nothing else is the cardinal rule of everything and supplants 42 as the answer to the universal question.

Ideally, keep your knees together, cross your legs once at the ankle, shoulders back (no one wants to see down your gaping top), rest one or both hands in your lap and lean slightly towards the person you are talking to.

How to get out of a car

before you open the door

Slide right to the edge of the seat.

Make sure your skirt is pulled down as far as possible, especially if it is  short.

when opening the door, never push it open further than your centre of gravity allows. Ideally though, an attentive male should be opening the door for you.

the following should be one fluid motion:

keeping your knees together, place your feet on the pavement (the foot closest to the door first, then the other quickly after), swivel in your seat so that your feet are square on and firmly planted on the ground (look out for pot holes, curbstones etc), duck your head slightly to avoid the roof of the car, if exiting the car unaided, push yourself up keeping your hands as low as possible (don’t haul yourself out of the car by grabbing the roof), again if an attentive male offers his hand push yourself up, don’t pull yourself out - this part should look effortless.
